Netscape: email reading
Why change a system that was working? What is wrong with
Eudora I hear you ask? Netscape is the Monash
approved email reader, but if you want a real reason, it is
because netscape supports IMAP.
IMAP is better than POP (which is the older protocol)
because IMAP stores the email on the mail server so you can
read your email from any machine and your inbox will be just
as you left it. IMAP also provides the ability to have
multiple mail boxes on the server and so you can do all that
funky stuff with multiple folders and things and you can
access it from anywhere (even outside monash! :). Now,
doesn't that just rock?
You can submit any problems that you have through the online
help system at:
which also contains a link to the computer use primer which
contains answers to commonly asked questions.

where I used my email address, cameron@mail.earth.monash.edu.au.
I do recomend that you use the full mail.earth.monash.edu.au rather than
just earth.monash.edu.au for complex reasons.
