Mounting the server disks
1.0: Chooser
- Goto the apple menu
- Goto the chooser
- Select appleshare
- Select earth_server
2: Enter your username/passwd
- Enter your username and password
- Enter your password
3: select the disk
- Click the mouse of the item that has the same name as your user name
- DO NOT tick the box on the right. This will make the mac
automatically ask you to mount the disk when it restarts, which is annoying and
slows down booting.
4: The disk appears
- A new icon will appear on the desktop.
- Close the chooser window.
Note: it is important that you LOGOUT when you are finished. See
instructions below.
5: open the disk
You should now be able to double click on that icon to open the disk.
6: play
You should now be able to drop things into your disk just as if it was
a normal mac disk.
7: Logging out!
This step is important
- Click on the network disk to select it.
- Drag it down to the trash can.
- Once you drop it in the trash, the disk icon should dissapear.
If you dont log out then people will have access to your files!!
If you have things open from the disk then this may fail. In that case,
then quit all applications that are still using files off that drive
and then try again.
